The I-864's income requirement is a structure, not a single number: a percentage of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, scaled by household size, with defined fallbacks when income is short. The dollar figures change every year — so this page explains the structure and points at the official table, which is the only place the current numbers should ever come from. The structure: a percentage, not a number
The sponsor must generally show income at or above 125% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for their household size — 100% for certain active-duty military sponsors. The guidelines update annually, and USCIS publishes the current affidavit-of-support table on Form I-864P. Any page (including this one) that printed the dollar amounts would be wrong within a year; the I-864P table is the living source.
Household size scales the threshold
The threshold depends on a defined count: the sponsor, their dependents, the sponsored immigrant or immigrants, and certain others the instructions specify. Counting the household correctly comes before comparing any number — a threshold for the wrong household size is the wrong threshold.
